Zestril medicine

Zestril medicine

Zestril tablets contain the active ingredient lisinopril, which is a type of medicine called ACE inhibitor. (NB. Lisinopril tablets can also be without stamps, that is, as general medicine.)

ACE inhibitors work by blocking the effect of compounds in the body called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Usually ACE produces another set called angiotensin II, as a natural part of the body controls blood pressure. Angiotensin II causes blood vessels to constrict and narrow, which increases the pressure inside blood vessels.

It blocks the effects of lisinopril ACE, it reduces the production of angiotensin II. This means that the blood vessels can relax and widen. The overall effect of this is to reduce blood pressure, so lisinopril can be used to reduce high blood pressure.

Reduced pressure in blood vessels means that the heart does not have to work as hard to pump blood around the body. This means that the ACE inhibitors, such as lisinopril can also be used to improve the symptoms of heart failure, when the heart is not pumping as efficiently as it should be, and to improve survival after a heart attack.
